Hi, my name is Jenise Stephen. I am originally from California, but pharmacy brought me across the country. I graduated from Midwestern University Chicago College of Pharmacy in 2012. Then did a PGY-1 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, followed by a PGY-2 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. My PGY-2 was to specialize in Solid Organ Transplant. After that I decided that it was okay for me to never see snow again (afterall, you never have to worry about shoveling sunshine) and I headed back to the west, but landed in Phoenix, Arizona, where I have been for the last 6 years. I am a solid organ transplant clinical pharmacy specialist specifically for the heart transplant team. April is Transplant Donor Awareness Month so I do want to encourage people that are not currently registered to consider becoming an organ donor. I became a mom last year and my maternity leave ended right as stay at home orders were being introduced. For me, it was a blessing in disguise as my team was able to figure out a way for me to work from home, and I was still fortunate to witness my baby’s milestones. Nothing could really prepare you for motherhood and my kiddo certainly keeps me on my toes. As a pandemic baby, we are just now trying to introduce him to all the wonders of the world. I definitely would not be able to do it all without the unconditional support of my husband. I would love to connect with any other clinical specialists that are wondering how to manage that work life balance. I certainly am not perfect, but would love to serve as a resource to others!
